Job summary

Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL) is seeking a casual Operator to handle forklift and support facility maintenance across our grounds. The role involves indoor and outdoor tasks, including snow removal, road sanding, floor care, and event setup.

You will perform safety checks, daily inspections, and assist with general labour for events, ensuring professional customer service and adherence to safety policies. Shifts are scheduled based on business needs; wage is $20.53/hour.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 driver’s license.
• Two years’ experience operating heavy and mobile equipment preferred.
• Valid certification to operate heavy equipment preferred.
• CPR & First Aid certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Operate all mobile and heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way.
• Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
• Inspect and perform routine pre/post inspections; maintain vehicles and equipment.
• Ensure heavy equipment is securely stored.
• Load/unload materials with trucks and loaders and organize stored materials.
• Assist with general labourer duties for events and tasks as directed by supervisor.
• Interact with customers professionally while maintaining safety policies.

As the Operator, you will primarily be responsible for all activities in relation to using and operating a forklift in our facilities. Additionally, the Operator will provide support for the overall maintenance of REAL facilities which includes snow removal, road and lot sanding, floor care and soccer turf maintenance, and street sweeping. Operators will perform their work tasks both indoors and outdoors throughout the grounds and various facilities.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Operate all mobile and heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.

• Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
• Perform routine pre and post inspections along with maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment such as fueling or replacing liquified gas tank and checking oil.
• Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored in proper areas.

Operate heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.

• Operate dump truck and front-end loaders/skid steers for the purpose of loading and unloading material such as dirt, sand, snow, gravel.
• Hook trucks to trailer hitches and fasten attachments, such as graders, tractors, using hitch pins.
• Organizing and securing stored materials.
• Loading or unloading materials

Assist with general labourer duties including but not limited to:

• Moving, setting-up and tearing down of equipment for various events, as directed by the planner/supervisor.
• Providing guidance concerning occupational health and safety when completing certain tasks with laborers.

Presenting services in a professional, respectful and positive manner at all times when interacting with internal and external customers by:

• Listening closely and asking how you can better serve the customer’s needs.
• Fulfilling all requests
• Ensuring customers feel welcome by acknowledging them with a smile, making eye contact, engaging in conversation, and anticipating their needs.
• Ensuring that security and safety measures are in place in the facility.

Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

**This is a casual position and shifts will be scheduled according to the business needs.**

Wage: $20.53/hour

WHAT IT TAKES

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Provincial driver’s license.
• Two years’ experience operating heavy and mobile equipment preferred. Previous relevant work experience will be considered.
• Valid certification to operate heavy equipment preferred.
• Possession of a valid CPR & First Aid certification card is an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of safety regulations regarding heavy equipment operation and/or a certificate in heavy equipment operation.
• Ability to be safety conscious and willing to follow safety policies and procedures.
• Ability to perform the physically strenuous and demanding tasks to fulfill all working conditions and physical demands.
• Ability to work with little supervision.
• Ability to maintain an accurate quality of work under stress and in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness and ability to maintain a respectable public image and conduct, interacting with customers in a courteous and friendly manner.
• Effective written, verbal, and listening skills.
