Job summary

Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL) is seeking a custodian to maintain the cleanliness of all REAL facilities. This casual role supports operations by ensuring spaces are cleaned to REAL's standards, creating a healthy and safe environment for guests.

Shifts are scheduled as needed with no guaranteed hours. You will perform interior and exterior cleaning, manage janitorial supplies, and handle routine tasks across buildings and grounds.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 education preferred.
• Knowledge of WHMIS program and Occupational Health and Safety Standards preferred.
• Experience with chemicals and janitorial machinery preferred.
• Ability to follow directions with minimal supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well as part of a team.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and be able to stand/walk for the shift.
• Criminal Record Check required for duration of employment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the interior and exterior of the buildings and their surrounding grounds.
• Keeps buildings and grounds in clean and orderly condition.
• Performs heavy cleaning duties including floors, walls and glass, and removing rubbish.
• Ensures janitorial rooms are clean and stocked at the end of each shift.
• Performs other duties on an as-needed basis.
• This is a casual position and shifts will be scheduled according to business needs; no guaranteed hours.

Status: Casual

As a custodian, you will have the responsibility of maintaining the cleanliness of all facilities at REAL. You will support all facilities by ensuring they are cleaned by REAL's standards to provide a healthy and safe environment for all guests. This role will be required to follow cleaning processes and procedures outlined for each area or facility.

What You Will Do

• Maintain the interior and exterior of the buildings and their surrounding grounds
• Keeps buildings and grounds in clean and orderly condition
• Performs heavy cleaning duties including, but not limited to cleaning floors, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish
• Ensures janitorial rooms are clean and stocked at the end of each shift
• Performs other duties on an as and when required basis
• This is a casual position and shifts will be scheduled according to the needs of the business. There are no guaranteed hours*

Wage $16.12 - $17.50

Requirements

• Grade twelve (12) education is preferred

• Knowledge/previous experience working with chemicals and janitorial machinery preferred
• Must be able to follow directions and work with minimum supervision
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well as part of a team

• Strong time-management skills and a proven track record of delivering quality results, with attention to details
• The employee is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs throughout their shift. May lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to remain standing and walk for their entire shift.
• May work odd or long hours at a time to complete operational requirements, projects or to participate in or coordinate evening and off-hour activities
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check for the duration of employment.
• Note that this position is an in-scope position under the RWDSU Collective Agreement
