Job summary

The Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL) in Regina, SK, is seeking a custodian to maintain the cleanliness of REAL facilities, inside and on the surrounding grounds, following REAL's standards to provide a healthy environment for all guests.

This casual position requires performing heavy cleaning, stocking janitorial rooms, and adapting to schedule needs; physical tasks include lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, stooping, and long hours when required.

Qualifications

• Grade twelve education preferred.
• Knowledge of WHMIS and health and safety standards preferred.
• Experience with chemicals and janitorial machinery preferred.
• Ability to follow directions with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork ability.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Maintain interior and exterior of the buildings and surrounding grounds.
• Keep buildings and grounds clean and orderly.
• Perform heavy cleaning duties including floors, walls, glass, and rubbish removal.
• Keep janitorial rooms clean and stocked at end of shift.
• Perform other duties as required.

As a custodian, you will have the responsibility of maintaining the cleanliness of all facilities at REAL. You will support all facilities by ensuring they are cleaned by REAL's standards to provide a healthy and safe environment for all guests. This role will be required to follow cleaning processes and procedures outlined for each area or facility.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Maintain the interior and exterior of the buildings and their surrounding grounds.
• Keeps buildings and grounds in clean and orderly condition.
• Performs heavy cleaning duties including, but not limited to cleaning floors, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish.
• Ensures janitorial rooms are clean and stocked at the end of each shift.
• Performs other duties on an as and when required basis.

*This is a casual position and shifts will be scheduled according to the needs of the business. There are no guaranteed hours*

Wage $16.12 - $17.50

WHAT IT TAKES

• Grade twelve (12) education is preferred.
• Knowledge of WHMIS program and Occupational Health and Safety Standards preferred.
• Knowledge/previous experience working with chemicals and janitorial machinery preferred.
• Must be able to follow directions and work with minimum supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well as part of a team.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change.
• Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others.
• Strong time-management skills and a proven track record of delivering quality results, with attention to details.
• The employee is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs throughout their shift. May lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to remain standing and walk for their entire shift.
• May work odd or long hours at a time to complete operational requirements, projects or to participate in or coordinate evening and off-hour activities.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check for the duration of employment.
• Note that this position is an in-scope position under the RWDSU Collective Agreement.
