Job description

The Operations Shift Supervisor is responsible for the daily performance of the London facility

Continuous Improvement

  • Under the direction of the Operations Manager, drives the daily performance of the production teams on various shifts by managing and leading the Mix, Production, and Maintenance departments during the designated shift.
  • The Operations Shift Supervisor will manage the daily performance summary and is responsible to make sure that performance KPI’s are updated. The daily performance summary and performance KPI’s are critical for reporting the shift’s performance on a daily basis.
  • The Operations Shift Supervisor will support problem solving activities related to safety, quality and performance on the shop floor.
  • When required, the Operations Shift Supervisor will work with the Operations Manager and the Plant Manager to elevate problems related to the supply chain.
  • The Operations Shift Supervisor will ensure employees within their Department adhere to the Solenis Operating System, PMS and the London Accountability Matrix. The Operations Shift Supervisor will act as a “Coach for the Coaches” for the respective TPL’s in their area.
  • Under the direction of the Operations Manager, implements systems to capture and analyze key process indicators.
  • The Operations Shift Supervisor will provide support for all continuous improvement efforts which include implementation of new standards, preventative maintenance, procedures, and improvements projects.
  • The Operations Shift Supervisor will complete a Short Interval Control Audit at the start of their shift to ensure communication will crews and ensuring that assigned actions are completed
  • The Operations Shift Supervisor will lead the daily Tier 2 integrated meeting including Safety, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance representation.
  • The Operations Shift Supervisor is responsible for directing the maintenance department to coordinate planned maintenance activities. The Operations Shift Supervisor will ensure the equipment is prepared prior to maintenance intervention as defined in the daily Tier 2 integrated meeting.
  • The Operations Shift Supervisor will lead the daily schedule review process with the Mix and Production TPLs.
  • The Operations Shift Supervisor will create the daily plan based on the output of the daily review, Tier 2 integrated, and daily schedule meetings. These meetings allow for the Operations Shift Supervisor and TPLs to manage the key daily activities that need to be completed. The daily plan is the tool that allows the Operations Shift Supervisor to provide active decision making to the shop floor. The daily plan includes performance daily goals for production while making decisions that concern the implementation of preventative maintenance.
  • Under the direction of the Operations Manager, implements systems to capture and analyze key process indicators.
  • The Operations Shift Supervisor will administer disciplinary action as required.
  • Directs operators in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards.
  • The Operations Shift Supervisor will be available for consult with the Mix and Production TPLs at all times, including evening, nights, and weekends.
  • The Operations Shift Supervisor will work according to the needs of the business including early start times, long shifts, call ins, and potentially split shifts.
  • Be an expert in SAP functions as they pertain to their area and span of control.
  • The Operations Shift Supervisor will provide vacation support for the Operations Manager

Health and Safety

  • The Operations Shift Supervisor is accountable for safety, quality, and productivity KPI’s in their area and will be a key driver in implementing and sustaining all improvement initiatives in the area.

Requirements

  • Proven communication skills and problem solving techniques
  • Demonstrated flexibility within a high performance work team environment
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to drive change
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science or Technical Program (preferred)
  • Prior management experience (required)
  • Experience in the processes of the targeted area (preferred)
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written)
  • Previous experience with Lean Tools such as 5 Why analysis, Kaizens, PM, Kan Ban, Poke Yoke.
  • In-depth knowledge of chemicals, chemical handling and TDG procedures (current transportation of dangerous good certification required or ability to train and be certified)
  • Excellent organization/multitasking, communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to work under aggressive timelines and multiple task assignments
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and time management skills
  • Ability to mentor, motivate, demonstrate, guide, coach and teach others
  • Intermediate to advanced computer applications knowledge (Microsoft Office, SAP)

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
