About this opportunity :

Downstream Operations is seeking an Operations Senior Shift Supervisor for the Lloydminster Upgrader. This role is responsible for coordinating all shift activities, providing mentorship, and supervising daily operations to ensure alignment with the facility’s strategy. The position ensures operations comply with the plant operating license, technical specifications, procedures, and company requirements, with a focus on safety protocols within the Upgrader.

This is a full-time position with a shift rotation of 12-hour shifts, including days/nights and weekends/stat holidays (e.g., 2 days / 2 nights on, 5 days off; 2 days / 3 nights on, 4 off; 3 days / 2 nights on, 5 off).

What you’ll do :
  • Provide direction and support to Operations personnel to achieve operational goals, including overseeing daily activities and scheduling.
  • Coordinate plant optimization efforts, start-ups/shutdowns, process recovery, and activation of the Emergency Response Team (ERT).
  • Champion health, safety, and environmental compliance to ensure safe and reliable operations.
  • Ensure completion of daily orders, maintenance schedules, and short-term plans (STP).
  • Handle work order approvals and maintain logs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Maintenance, Turnaround, Operations, Engineering.
  • Coach and mentor Operations personnel, including Operator training and development.
Who you are :

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
  • 3rd Class Power Engineering certificate; a 2nd Class certificate is an asset.
  • At least 10+ years of experience in oil and gas operations, preferably in a refinery/upgrading facility.
  • Experience with safety management systems, regulations, and standards.
  • Leadership skills with experience mentoring and developing personnel.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and decision-making abilities.

We consider transferable skills and may evaluate equivalent experience and education.

This position is safety-sensitive; employment is contingent upon successful pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessments.

You must maintain a Class 5 driver’s license, a good driving record, and adhere to company policies. A driver’s abstract will be part of the background check.
