About the rolePosition:Manager, Researchand Evaluation
Position Type:Term position until March 31, 2027
Reports to:Director, Trail Inclusion Initiatives
Start Date:As soon as possible
Location:Remote from home, resident in Canada
As theManager, Research and Evaluation, you will lead the design and implementation of research and evaluation initiatives. You will be responsible for creating robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks, ensuring data quality and integrity, and providing strategic insights to inform decision-making. You will also organize and oversee research conducted in collaboration with institutions and organizations.
This position requires a visionary leader who has strong analytical skills, experience with quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, and the ability to communicate complex findings. You will also have strong relationship-building skills and organizational skills to establish and oversee partnerships and collaborative research initiativesas part of the new Centre of Excellence.
This position is open only to residents of Canada, who are eligible to work in Canada.
Key responsibilities1. Monitoring and evaluation
- Design and establish comprehensive monitoring and evaluation frameworks and plans to assess project performance and impact, including KPIs, data collection methods, and impact analysis.
- Participate and/or oversee the collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Analyze and interpret collected data to generate insightful reports and recommendations that highlight program achievements and challenges that allow for informed decision-making regarding program improvements.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings and insights.
- Regularly track and monitor program activities and progress.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments including baseline and endline data collection.
- Ensure the integrity and quality of data and evaluation processes through regular reviews.
- Collaborate with program staff and subject matter experts in the establishment and management of research, monitoring and evaluation activities.
2. Research activities
- Build relationships with potential research partners, including post-secondary institutions, non-profit organizations, businesses, trail organizations, etc.
- Support the design of and establish Research Chair and Fellowship positions, including defining objectives, eligibility criteria, and selection processes.
- Conduct and/or oversee other research activities as needed.
3. Annual planning and administration
- In consultation with the Director, Trail Inclusion Initiatives, contribute to an annual work plan and budget.
- Provide accurate and detailed financial reporting (budgets, forecasts, expense tracking).
- Ensure contracts, agreements and other financial considerations conform to the organization’s ethical and financial guidelines.
4. Other
- Maintain an accurate cash flow, meeting deliverables and timelines.
- Perform other job-related tasks as required.
- Communicate and support other Trans Canada Trail departments and staff as required.
- Participate in regular meetings as required.
Knowledge, skills and abilities- Capacity to provide strategic input, and align research, monitoring and evaluation activities with organizational goals.
- Comprehensive knowledge of monitoring and evaluation frameworks, tools, and best practices.
- In-depth understanding of both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
- Proficiency in data analytics and ethical research guidelines.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Strong ability to analyze complex data sets and generate actionable insights.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey findings.
- Strong ability to build positive relationships with a broad range of partners.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and high-quality outcomes.
- Ability to identify challenges and develop innovative solutions.
- Commitment to staying updated with the latest developments in research, monitoring and evaluation.
- Possess curiosity, patience, creativity, critical thinking, empathy and flexibility.
- Ability to build and maintain positive professional relationships with partners, participants, and other organizations and individuals, both internal and external.
- Ability to communicate complicated, potentially controversial and timely messages, when faced with multiple considerations.
- Results-oriented, deriving satisfaction from milestone achievements.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of Salesforce an asset.
- Bilingual (English/French) an asset.
Desired experience and qualifications- Bachelor’s or advanced degree
- Education and experience in data analytics
- A minimum of 10 years’ proven experience in project management
Compensation packageWe offer a compensation package that includes:
- Hiring salary of$83,300per year
