Job summary

Fowler Construction is seeking an Operations Manager to help with the efficient and timely execution of our Sudbury East Contract in Ontario. You will assist with contract management, reporting, and site coordination to keep projects on schedule.

Ideal candidates have postsecondary education in business or civil engineering, strong organizational skills, and a valid G driver’s license. The role includes a company vehicle, comprehensive benefits, and a dynamic work environment.

Qualifications

• Postsecondary education in Business or Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Accounting experience is an asset.
• Bridge Inspection training (Book 7) is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist with contract management and ensure on-time reporting per contract specifications.
• Maintain relations with ministry, public, and affected parties; address issues promptly.
• Assist with patrols as required and coordinate site activities.
• Communicate with the Ministry regarding inquiries, issues, and reporting deficiencies.
• Ensure compliance with Ministry reporting and maintain WOR records.
• Oversee job costing, time/material tracking, change orders, and 3rd party invoicing.
• Track deliverables to ensure deadlines are met.
• Attend pre-start meetings for sub-contractors and coordinate inspections.

Fowler Construction is actively seeking an Operations Manager to assist with the efficient and timely execution of our CDMC Sudbury East Contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with contract management ensuring on-time reporting per contract specifications
• Maintain good public relations by keeping ministry, public, and other affected parties informed, deal with issues and complaints in a timely manner.
• Assist with patrols as required.
• Communicate with the Ministry as they relate to inquiries, issues, and/or reporting deficiencies,.
• Ensure compliance with Ministry reporting.
• Maintain accurate WOR records.
• Job costing, including time and materials tracking, change orders and 3rd party invoicing.
• Track deliverables to ensure deadlines are met.
• Attend pre-start meetings for sub contractors.
• Capital improvements, work order preparation and tracking
• Equipment tracking
• Bridge and culvert inspections; including deficiency and repair reporting.
• Carry out scheduled inspections including; fencing (reptile and ungulate), pond and stormceptors.
• Administer Health & Safety protocols and reporting as they relate to the incidents, accidents or spills.
• Facilitate and maintain locates as required.
• Prepare sample testing of materials for lab
• Schedule traffic control requirements, based on repair schedule.
• All other duties as requested by management.

Position Requirements

• Business, Civil Engineering or related postsecondary education and/or knowledge gained through experience.
• Accounting experience an asset
• Bridge Inspection training asset, Book 7
• Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management.
• Valid G driver’s license required.

Work Conditions

• Travel to various job sites and locations will be required (company vehicle provided).
• Work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including adverse weather conditions.
• Weekend and evening work may be required based on project demands.
