Job summary

TPD® Workforce Solutions' client, a long-standing road and bridge maintenance contractor for the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario, seeks an hands-on Operations Manager based in Sudbury, Ontario. You will lead forepersons, maintenance workers, and operators to keep Ontario's roads safe and projects on track.

This role combines field presence with people leadership: scheduling, budget control, coordinating subcontractors, handling hiring, timesheets, and shift planning.

Responsibilities

• Own the day-to-day operations of a road and bridge maintenance contract
• Keep projects on track and on budget through scheduling, cost control, and quality standards
• Champion efficient use of manpower and equipment to drive productivity
• Manage capital works, work orders, and extra work in response to MTO requests
• Oversee subcontracts and subcontractor relationships
• Handle the people side of the business: hiring, timesheets, overtime, and shift scheduling
• Build a workplace culture rooted in collaboration, accountability, and pride in the work

Our client, a leading provider of road and bridge maintenance services under contract with the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario, is looking for a hands‑on, take‑charge Operations Manager to lead a dedicated crew of forepersons, maintenance workers, and operators who keep Ontario's roads and bridges safe for the people who rely on them every day. • What You BringA diploma or degree from a technical college or university in a related field
• Deep knowledge of Ontario's Road and Bridge Maintenance Standards
• A track record of managing crews delivering road and bridge maintenance services
• Comfort with contract language, provincial regulations, and WSIB requirements
• Strong leadership, communication, and public relations skills
• Experience working within a unionized environment
