This job position is responsible for managing all aspects of the heavy timber and mass timber production, ensuring safety, efficiency, quality, and timely delivery of products. The successful candidate will lead a team of professionals, maintain operational schedules, and drive continuous improvements in processes and workflows. This role requires a deep understanding of wood manufacturing, supply chain management, and a passion for sustainable building practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operational Oversight: Lead and manage day-to-day operations of the production facility, ensuring smooth workflow and efficient production timelines.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and develop a high-performing team of production staff. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment. Promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale.
- Production Planning: Develop and implement production schedules, ensuring that timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met. Coordinate with procurement, logistics, and other departments to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and components.
- Quality Control: Oversee quality assurance and control processes to ensure the products meet industry standards and customer specifications.
- Safety and Compliance: Maintain a strong focus on workplace safety by ensuring compliance with OHS, Worksafe BC and other safety regulations. Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions.
- Equipment and Facility Maintenance: Ensure timely maintenance of production equipment and facility infrastructure. Coordinate repairs, inspections, and upgrades to ensure minimal downtime and safe operations.
- Process Improvement: Continuously assess production processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize costs.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production data, inventory, and performance metrics. Prepare regular reports for upper management regarding production status, challenges, and achievements.
- Budget Management: Assist in developing and managing the department’s budget, ensuring that operations are conducted within financial constraints.
- HR: recruitment, onboarding, training, compensation, performance management,handle disciplinary actions
Qualifications:
- Education: Degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in operations management within the manufacturing or construction industry, with at least 2 years of experience specifically in heavy timber and mass timber industry.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of wood industry, manufacturing processes, and supply chain logistics. Familiarity with CAD software and production planning tools is a plus.
- Leadership: Proven leadership experience in managing cross-functional teams and driving operational performance.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot production issues and develop actionable solutions.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Safety Focus: In-depth knowledge of workplace safety practices and regulatory compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with lean manufacturing techniques or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience in project management and client-facing roles within the construction industry.
