Simpcw Resources Group in Clearwater, BC, invites an experienced Operations Forester to lead planning, coordination, and oversight of harvesting, road construction, fibre development, and permit activities within SRG's Forestry Division.

Reporting to the Forestry Manager, the role emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, budget management, contractor supervision, and collaboration with Indigenous partners and government agencies to advance sustainable forest management.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Forestry, Forest Engineering, Natural Resource Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of operational forestry experience, including harvesting supervision, road construction, road maintenance, and timber development.
• Registered, or eligible for registration, with the Association of BC Forest Professionals or Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
• Strong knowledge of BC forestry legislation, permitting processes, and environmental compliance.
• Experience developing and administering Cutting Permits, Road Permits, site plans, and related documentation.
• Experience managing forestry contractors and multiple field operations.
• Knowledge of forest road engineering, maintenance, and hauling logistics.
• Ability to interpret maps, engineering drawings, and operational plans.
• Proficiency with GIS, mapping software, and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee operational forestry activities including harvesting, road construction, road maintenance, hauling, and fibre recovery.
• Develop and administer cutting and road permits with compliance to legislation and company objectives.
• Coordinate timber harvesting to meet production targets while maintaining safety and environmental standards.
• Supervise forest road construction, maintenance, and bridge installations.
• Develop annual and seasonal road maintenance programs and dust control.
• Coordinate contractors, equipment, and resources to support safe, efficient forestry operations.
• Conduct field inspections to ensure compliance with plans, permits, and safety standards.
• Monitor harvesting performance, road progress, fibre utilization, and contractor effectiveness.
• Manage contractor performance and approve invoices.
• Work with planning, GIS, silviculture, and forestry professionals for execution and long-term objectives.
• Collaborate with Indigenous Nations, government agencies, tenure holders, and stakeholders for project delivery.
• Monitor budgets, schedules, and KPIs to identify efficiency improvements.
• Maintain accurate operational records and reports on production, permitting, and status.
