Job summary

Western Forest Products is seeking an Operations Forester/Planner for the TFL 6 Forest Operation based in Port McNeill, BC. You will lead safety, engineering and planning activities for road construction and harvest plans, working with a team of forest professionals to improve efficiency and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.

The role requires 5-7 years of operations planning experience, a Forestry degree and RPF accreditation, plus strong communication and teamwork

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of operations planning experience.
• Post-secondary degree in Forestry or Natural Resource Management.
• Current accreditation with the Association of BC Forest Professionals (RPF).
• Applicants with less experience and/or accreditation may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety leadership and direction to improve safety.
• Support environmental sustainability and sound forest stewardship.
• Lead daily engineering and planning activities for salaried employees and contractors.
• Develop annual road construction and production plans with the operations team.
• Coordinate planning activities to secure road and cutting permits.
• Maintain relationships with First Nations partners and government agencies.
• Identify strategies to reduce costs and maximize margins.
