Job summary

The City of Greater Sudbury is seeking an Operations Engineer (Distribution and Collection) to support Linear Infrastructure Services. The role reports to the Manager and coordinates maintenance contracts, budgets, and technical activities to ensure quality customer service and alignment with the Business Plan.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate Engineering degree from a recognized university.
• Must hold and maintain a license to practice engineering in Ontario (P.Eng).
• MOE Certification (Water Treatment Class IV, Water Distribution & Supply Class IV, Wastewater Treatment Class III, Wastewater Collection Class III) considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate maintenance contracts and technical activities for Linear Infrastructure Services.
• Oversee tenders/quotations and reports for operating and maintenance projects including design, cost estimates, project management and commissioning.
• Liaise with departmental staff and contractors on infrastructure technical, operations and maintenance issues.
• Provide technical direction on operational matters to staff and act as Overall Responsible Operator when directed.
• Participate in hiring committees and represent the Employer in disciplinary matters.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and legislated requirements and report breaches as needed.
• Develop performance measurement tools and analyze data to assess service levels and efficiency.
• Recommend improvements to business processes to achieve safe and efficient operation.
