Job summary

Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is seeking an experienced Utility Operations Technician to oversee underground services projects and support daily operations in water distribution and wastewater collection. You will liaise with contractors, manage asset programs, and help implement safety and regulatory standards.

The role requires a civil/construction engineering diploma, 3 years’ related experience, and AEPA/ASET qualifications or progress.

Qualifications

• Diploma in civil or construction engineering or related technical program.
• Three years of related experience in utility operation and maintenance or construction.
• Eligibility for membership with ASE T.
• AEPA Water Distribution and/or Wastewater Collection Level III is an asset; Level III certification within four years is preferred.
• Must obtain AEPA Level III within four years of hire.
• Criminal Record Check required.
• Valid Class 5 Operator’s Licence is required.
• Willing to work outside in all conditions.
• Immunizations recommended for unsanitary conditions.
• Medically and physically able to perform duties; standby rotation as required.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate projects and contracts within the UGS branch.
• Act as liaison for contractors to ensure designs meet standards.
• Assist coordination of water distribution and wastewater operations and maintenance.
• Responsible for construction completion certification and inspections on Underground Services projects.
• Coordinate inspections and maintenance programs for water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
• Prepare detailed reports relating to water, wastewater, and storm operations and maintenance.
