Job summary

Colonial Group in Vermilion, AB, is seeking an Operations Assistant (Level 1) to support safe, efficient grain handling at the G3 Vermilion facility. The role focuses on safety, reliability of operations, and strong customer interactions with farmers, drivers, and partners.

You will learn grain handling procedures, operate PLC-enabled equipment, and work with team members to meet changing priorities in a busy terminal environment.

Responsibilities

• Receive grain by truck, including weighing loads and collecting required documentation.
• Collect grain samples and assist with grain quality assessment and cleaning activities.
• Bin, transfer, monitor, and ship grain while following safety and quality requirements.
• Operate terminal control systems, PLCs, and other equipment as trained.
• Support rail car and locomotive-related activities as trained.
• Provide timely, respectful service to farmers, drivers, customers, and partners.
• Communicate effectively with team and stakeholders to support safe operations.
• Follow EH&S policies and maintain clean, organized facilities.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Job Title: Operations Assistant (Level 1)

Location: G3 Vermilion

The Operations Assistant supports the safe, efficient handling of grain throughout the facility. This role contributes to maintaining a safe and respectful workplace, clean and well-maintained facilities, reliable operations, positive customer service, and effective working relationships with colleagues, customers, and business partners.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Receive grain by truck, including weighing loads, collecting required documentation, and following site procedures.
• Collect grain samples and assist with grain quality assessment and grain cleaning activities in accordance with established procedures.
• Bin, transfer, monitor, and ship grain while following operational, safety, and quality requirements.
• Operate terminal control systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and other equipment, where trained and authorized.
• Support rail car and locomotive-related activities, where trained and authorized.
• Provide timely, respectful, and professional service to farmers, commercial truck drivers, customers, business partners, and other visitors.
• Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with team members and other stakeholders to support safe and efficient operations and respond to changing priorities.
• Follow Environmental, Health and Safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices, and help maintain clean, organized, and well-maintained facilities.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.
