Avantor in Hamilton, Ontario, is seeking a Laboratory Operations & Service Coordinator. You will coordinate lab operational support services, manage receiving and distribution of shipments, maintain inventory and procurement, and support safety and compliance to ensure day-to-day readiness.
The role involves improving workflows, coordinating with lab personnel, and handling regulated materials with care while following GMP/GLP/ISO standards. Shift: Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm; Hourly rate: $25-$30.
In this role, you will report to the Area Operations Manager and will work closely with Avantor's Lab and Production Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time to science.

In this role you will:
Serve as the primary coordinator for laboratory operational support services and maintain day-to-day laboratory readiness.
Coordinate and track operational requests from laboratory personnel to ensure timely completion and effective service delivery.
Maintain operational records, documentation, metrics, and reporting.
Partner with laboratory personnel and support teams to optimize workflows, resolve operational needs, and improve service quality.
Receive, inspect, process, and distribute incoming laboratory shipments, including reagents, consumables, supplies, and other materials.
Maintain receiving and chain-of-custody documentation as required.
Ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of temperature-sensitive and regulated materials.
Coordinate movement of materials between laboratory locations.
Resolve shipment discrepancies and coordinate with vendors as needed.
Maintain appropriate inventory levels of laboratory consumables, supplies, and operational materials.
Perform cycle counts, reconciliations, and routine inventory audits to maintain accuracy.
Monitor stock levels and proactively replenish critical materials.
Process purchase requests and support routine procurement activities.
Track inventory performance and identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy and material availability.
Coordinate chemical, biological, and other laboratory waste processes, including labeling, documentation, staging, collection, and vendor pickups.
Support laboratory housekeeping, organization, and workspace readiness.
Participate in safety inspections, audits, and compliance activities, including corrective and preventive actions.
Maintain required safety, environmental, and compliance documentation.
Ensure laboratory support activities follow established procedures and EHS requirements.
Coordinate preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, and routine operational readiness checks.
Manage vendor service visits and facility access requirements.
Monitor compressed gas inventories and coordinate replacements.
Coordinate delivery and replenishment of liquid nitrogen, dry ice, and other laboratory utilities.
Maintain equipment maintenance and service records.
Identify and implement opportunities to improve laboratory efficiency, workflows, and service quality.
Promote operational standardization, best practices, and continuous improvement.
Foster a culture focused on safety, quality, collaboration, and operational excellence.
