Job summary

Adecco is recruiting a Clinical and Health Scientist - Development Operations for a pharmaceutical client in Canada. The role focuses on analytical testing, method development and validation, and ensuring GMP compliance within Laboratory Operations.

You will document data per ALCOA, perform HPLC and dissolution testing, use LIMS and Empower, and support continuous improvement while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline
  • Experience performing analytical testing using HPLC and related laboratory instrumentation
  • Strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles
  • GMP knowledge and regulatory compliance
  • ALCOA data integrity principles
  • Excellent attention to detail and data integrity
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

  • Document experimental data in ALCOA-compliant manner
  • Perform analytical testing including HPLC, dissolution, and physical testing
  • Execute testing per approved methods and SOPs
  • Utilize Empower, NuGenesis, LIMS, SmartLab, Word and Excel
  • Troubleshoot analytical systems and resolve system suitability issues
  • Support method development, validation protocols and bench work
  • Investigate and report unexpected results
  • Maintain laboratory organization, safety and 5S practices
  • Assist with investigations and root-cause analysis
  • Work rotating or alternate shifts as required

This opportunity is ideal for candidates with a background in chemistry or a related scientific discipline who are passionate about laboratory research, method validation, quality compliance, and contributing to the development of life-changing pharmaceutical products.

In this role, you will provide analytical support within the Laboratory Operations team by performing analytical testing, assisting with method development and validations, documenting results, and ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

Accurately document all experimental data in accordance with ALCOA (Attributable, Legible, Contemporaneous, Original, and Accurate) principles

Perform analytical testing including:

HPLC analysis

Dissolution testing

Physical testing

Execute testing activities according to approved analytical methods and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Utilize laboratory and data management systems including Empower, NuGenesis, LIMS, SmartLab, Microsoft Word, and Excel

Troubleshoot analytical systems and resolve system suitability issues

Support method development, validation protocols, and validation bench work

Conduct excipient compatibility studies (ECS)

Investigate and report unexpected, atypical, or Out of Specification (OOS) results

Assist with laboratory investigations and root-cause analysis activities

Maintain laboratory organization, safety standards, and 5S practices

Support continuous improvement initiatives within laboratory operations

Work rotating or alternating shifts as required

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline

Previous experience in a laboratory, pharmaceutical, scientific, or research environment

Experience performing analytical testing using HPLC and related laboratory instrumentation is preferred

Strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles

Knowledge of chromatographic separation techniques

Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis

Understanding of pharmaceutical quality standards and regulatory requirements

Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities

Excellent attention to detail and data integrity practices

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Ability to read and interpret technical procedures and regulatory documentation

Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment

Strong mathematical and analytical skills

Detail-oriented and highly organized

Passionate about scientific research and analytical testing

Committed to quality, compliance, and patient safety

Adaptable in a fast-paced laboratory environment

Proactive in identifying process improvements

Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines

Team-oriented with a positive and collaborative attitude

Laboratory-based role within a pharmaceutical manufacturing and development setting

Compliance with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), GMP, and company procedures is required

Rotating or alternate shifts may be required based on business needs
