Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Manager of Finance, Controllership & Projects to join its team in Canada. The role requires leading finance process design, overseeing the close, and driving automation and AI initiatives.

You will partner with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders to deliver accurate financial results and scalable controls. Requires a CPA or equivalent experience, a minimum of 6 years in accounting, and strong Excel/PowerPoint skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
• CPA designation considered an asset.
• Minimum 6 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience with project management and process design is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design of finance processes for transitory activities with external parties.
• Lead and support the financial close process with strong governance and reporting.
• Analyze and present financial information to drive value-add decisions.
• Provide guidance on new transactions, projects, and accounting standards.
• Review and summarize accounting for contracts, policies and complex transactions.
• Drive transformation of financial close via automation and AI-enabled solutions.
• Identify opportunities to enhance processes, data quality and reporting with cross-functional teams.

About the Opportunity

• Lead special project for the end-to-end design, documentation and implementation of finance processes required to deliver transitory finance activities with external parties
• Lead and support the financial close process, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely financial results while maintaining a strong control environment and reporting requirements
• Analyze and present financial information to drive value-add decision-making
• Provide guidance on new transactions, projects, processes and accounting standards while maintaining strong governance and controls
• Review, analyze and summarize accounting for contracts, policies and complex transactions
• Drive transformation of financial close activities through process optimization, centralization, automation, and the adoption of emerging technologies, including AI-enabled solutions.
• Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes, systems, data quality, and reporting capabilities, partnering with cross-functional teams to implement solutions.
• Lead and support strategic projects and organizational transformation initiatives.

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Commerce, or a related field.
• CPA designation or equivalent finance experience is considered an asset.
• Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in similar accounting role.
• Practical experience in project management, process design, and transitory service delivery is an asset.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Experience with automation, AI, machine learning, or data analytics tools is an asset.
• Proficiency in process mapping, workflow design, and interaction models
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate cross-functional deliverables
• Support a culture of innovation - a personal interest in upskilling in latest digital and technology trends
• Passion to understand operational business and its linkages to financial processes
• Highly organized, with the ability to independently plan and execute multiple priorities and demonstrate confidence and composure in times of uncertainty and stress.
• Ability to partner and build relationships to influence and engage with various cross-functional groups and management levels towards a common vision
• Ability to take initiative and ownership of issues and tasks by leading resolution

Salary Range

$100,000 - $110,000 / year

This position for employment is for a current vacancy with Vaco by Highspring's client. You must currently reside within the Greater Toronto Area and be permitted to work in Canada to be considered for this opportunity.
