Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a senior accounting professional in a hybrid setting to lead and optimize the financial close, drive IFRS expertise, and guide cross-functional projects. You will partner with stakeholders, analyze data, and implement AI-enabled improvements to reporting and processes.

The role requires 5+ years in accounting, IFRS knowledge (IFRS 15/16), and strong Excel/PowerPoint skills, with CPA asset noted. Ontario-based position with relocation considerations may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Commerce, or related field.
• CPA designation or equivalent finance experience is an asset.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in a similar accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS accounting standards, including IFRS 15 and IFRS 16.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Experience with automation, AI, machine learning, or data analytics tools is an asset.
• Ability to upskill in latest digital and technology trends.

About the Opportunity

• Lead and support the financial close process, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely financial results while maintaining a strong control environment and reporting requirements

• Drive transformation of financial close activities through process optimization, centralization, automation, and the adoption of emerging technologies, including AI-enabled solutions.
• Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes, systems, data quality, and reporting capabilities, partnering with cross-functional teams to implement solutions.
• Lead and support strategic projects and organizational transformation initiatives.
• Manage and develop teams, fostering collaboration, accountability, and high performance.

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Commerce, or a related field.
• CPA designation or equivalent finance experience is considered an asset.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in similar accounting role.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience applying IFRS accounting standards, including expert-level knowledge of IFRS 15 (Revenue) and IFRS 16 (Leases).
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Experience with automation, AI, machine learning, or data analytics tools is an asset.

• Passion to understand operational business and its linkages to financial processes
• Highly organized, with the ability to independently plan and execute on multiple priorities and demonstrate confidence and composure in times of uncertainty and stress.

Salary Range

$100,000 – $110,000 / year
