Job summary

BGO is seeking an on-site Maintenance Manager in Cambridge, ON to lead maintenance and building operations for a residential portfolio. You will supervise staff, coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and resident satisfaction in an on-site setting.

The role emphasizes coordinating with contractors, managing inventories in Yardi, and supporting sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma supplemented with post-secondary courses.
• 5 years of experience in building operations including mechanical, fire and safety, electrical and HVAC systems.
• Ability to read and review construction drawings.
• A complete understanding of applicable laws and rights concerning resident/landlord relations.
• 5th Class Power Engineer Certification, WHMIS and First Aid Training are assets.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and mentor maintenance staff, contractors, and service providers.
• Coordinate daily maintenance activities, schedules, performance reviews, and team communication.
• Ensure compliance with legislation including the Residential Tenancies Act, Fire Code, OHSA, and RentSafeTO.
• Oversee preventive, routine, corrective, and emergency maintenance, including inspections and recordkeeping.
• Coordinate suite turnovers and ensure vacant units are clean, functional, and move-in ready.
• Perform and supervise minor plumbing, electrical, painting, mechanical, and general repairs.
• Monitor building systems and equipment: boilers, HVAC, fire panels, elevators, filters, and testing/service.
• Maintain inventories and maintenance documentation in Yardi.
• Deliver responsive resident service and maintain relationships with residents and vendors.
• Support sustainability and energy-efficiency initiatives and respond to hazards.
