Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. seeks a HAZMAT Technician to provide high-level technical support during emergency activations involving dangerous goods.

You will join the Emergency Response Team to ensure immediate response, safety and quality of service around the clock. The role requires exceptional skills in safety, planning, communication and time management, plus on-call availability and willingness to travel, including overnight stays.

Qualifications

• Hazardous materials handling and emergency response experience
• Strong safety, planning, communication and time-management skills
• Ability to fulfill on-call requirements
• Clean driving record; Class 5 license; Class 1 or 3 beneficial

Responsibilities

• Respond to spills and emergencies at short notice (rail, road, facilities)
• Perform chemical transloading and decontamination as needed
• Organize resources for response and preparation, including personnel and equipment
• Maintain and service emergency response equipment and documentation
• Lead safety and complete required safety documentation
• Set up and participate in live training events to ensure competency
• Support specialized projects as required
