Job summary

The Corporation of the City of Timmins is seeking qualified casual Equipment Operators to join the Public Works team on an as-needed basis. Work will be called in as required; candidates must be able to operate a range of light and heavy equipment and perform labourer duties under supervision.

Under the Roads Supervisor, you may handle multiple machinery tasks and complete orientation or training related to safety and city policies.

Qualifications

• DZ class licence or higher required for dump truck and snow plow operations.
• Grade 12 education or equivalency.
• Experience operating multiple pieces of industry-related equipment such as asphalt work, concrete work, dump truck operation, grader operation, loader operation, backhoe operation, and light tractor operation.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions; good knowledge of City street names.

Responsibilities

• Perform labourer work as assigned.
• Independently operate various types of light and heavy-duty equipment as assigned.
• Complete internal orientation or limited job-specific training related to organization policies, procedures, or safety obligations.
• Ability to work shift work; nights, afternoons and weekends, including 12, 10, and 8-hour shifts.
