Job summary

XTL Transport in Surrey, BC is seeking a skilled Trailer Mechanic to join our maintenance team. You will diagnose, repair, and service commercial trailers, including reefers, with a focus on safety and quality workmanship.

We offer competitive hourly wages from $30.00 to $38.00, benefits, RRSP matching up to 3%, tool and boot allowances, and a four-day work week with 10-hour shifts. Apprenticeship and training opportunities are available to grow with the company.

Qualifications

• Valid BC Trailer Mechanic certification or Red Seal required.
• Experience repairing commercial trailers.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
• Experience with refrigerated trailers (reefers) is a plus.
• Welding and fabrication experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair commercial trailers and related systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical, brake, suspension, landing gear, and air systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and CVIP inspections.
• Diagnose and repair refrigeration-related trailer components where applicable.
• Maintain repair records using computer software.
• Monitor and manage shop inventory and equipment.

Key Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose, and repair commercial trailers and related systems Troubleshoot electrical, brake, suspension, landing gear, and air systems Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections Complete and maintain CVIP inspections and maintenance records Diagnose and repair refrigeration-related trailer components where applicable Repair body damage and replace trailer components as required Maintain accurate repair records using computer software Monitor and manage shop inventory as required Maintain company equipment and tools in safe working condition Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections Report safety concerns and repair requirements to the Shop Supervisor Follow all company safety policies and procedures Maintain professional and respectful communication with drivers, supervisors, and team members.
