Job summary

A senior care provider is seeking a part-time Occupational Therapist Assistant in Canada to assist residents in regaining independence and monitoring their functions. You will be responsible for supporting the daily activities of residents, reporting their progress, and ensuring a high standard of care. The ideal candidate has experience with seniors and strong communication skills. Flexibility in working hours is essential.

Qualifications

  • Clear criminal record security clearance required.
  • Physically fit, able to stand for long periods.
  • Experience with the disabled or mental health support is an asset.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Occupational Therapist, the Occupational Therapist Assistant assists residents in regaining and/or maintaining an optimal level of independence, preventing deformity and/or decreasing pain within the limits of each resident’s mental and/or physical ability.

The assistant will be responsible for day‑to‑day monitoring and reporting the resident’s function, mobility, and response to programs. Additional duties include feeding residents if needed, equipment repair and provision, and cleaning.

The Occupational Therapist Assistant will always demonstrate support of Park Place policies and procedures and conduct themselves in a professional manner.

Qualifications:
  • Recognized Therapy Assistant Diploma is an asset, but not required.
  • Experience working with seniors, the disabled, or those requiring mental health support is an asset.
  • Clear criminal record security clearance with vulnerable sector included (no more than 6 months old).
  • Must be physically fit, able to be on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Must be able to work independently, and as part of the interdisciplinary team.
