Job summary

UNC Faculty Physicians in Chapel Hill, NC, seeks a Nurse Practitioner to join the pediatric cardiac ICU team. You will provide high-quality, cost-effective care in collaboration with supervising physicians within the APP scope of practice.

The role emphasizes education, leadership, and evidence-based practice across the care continuum, with opportunities for professional development and involvement in quality initiatives.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program.
• Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (i.e., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina.
• Board certification if required by the Department. DEA.
• PCICU/PICU experience strongly preferred.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Clinical: Obtain health history, perform exams, interpret tests, develop treatment plans and follow-up.
• Education: Educate patients and families; develop teaching materials for learners.
• Leadership: Precept, teach, and lead quality improvement projects.
• Professional: Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues, document well, and ensure timely care.
• Quality/Research: Engage in daily quality improvement and participate in policy and protocol development.
