Job summary

NorWest Community Health Centres, Thunder Bay site, seeks a half-time Nurse Practitioner to deliver addiction medicine and substance use health care in the RAAM Clinic. The role emphasizes comprehensive community-based care and working within a multi-disciplinary team across Thunder Bay locations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) from a recognized university.
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) in the Extended Class (CNO-EC).
  • Broad knowledge and interest in community health, substance use health, addictions, and harm reduction.
  • Interest in providing substance use health care and supporting clients across the continuum of substance use.
  • Knowledge of and experience with current and emerging addiction medicine practices, including prescribing and monitoring.
  • Knowledge of managed alcohol administration is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and health education skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of community-based health care.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to work at multiple service locations within the Thunder Bay.
  • Demonstrated experience working across all genders, with racialized populations, indigenous peoples, individuals who engage in sex work, individuals who are/have been incarcerated, people with mental health challenges, and people who have experienced trauma.

Job description

Nurse Practitioner

0.5 FTE Thunder Bay Site

One of a network of provincial community health centres, the NorWest Community Health Centres is a community based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services.

We are currently seeking a 0.5 FTE permanent Nurse Practitioner, who as a valuable member of the Community Health Centre team will provide addiction medicine and substance use health care within the Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) Clinic.

The position has a competitive salary, the Health Care of Ontario’s Pension Plan (HOOP) and an excellent group health benefits package.

The pay range for this position is $61.648 to $73.734 per hour. Compensation will commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience.

Eligible for the Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN) that provides $25,000 in grant funding to eligible nurses in exchange for a 2 year commitment.
