Job Description: The Program Development Educator (PDE) is assigned responsibilities for particular rural facilities and community-based services within a specific geographic area. The PDE works collaboratively with leaders and educators to provide education services consistent with overall program direction, including long-term care, acute care, and community-based services such as home care. Under the direction of the Primary Health Care (PHC) Manager, the PDE integrates knowledge and skills reflective of models of care and adult learning principles to provide education, research, and quality client-centered care. The PDE provides visible, proactive leadership and promotes client-centered care through identified education programming. In collaboration with the PHC Director and Managers, the PDE assesses learning needs, plans, implements, and evaluates education activities/programs, using a consultative approach and research findings to support care staff and managers. Responsibilities include electronic health record systems (e.g., MDS & Care Management), specialized client needs, and clinical knowledge needs.
