Job summary

Extendicare in Canada is seeking an NSWOC RN to enhance the management and quality of nursing practice in home care, aligned with governing bodies and internal standards. A mandatory Wound Certificate from a 1-year university accredited course is required.

Access to a reliable vehicle in community home care is required. The role covers assessment, care plan development, and supervising nursing staff, with salary discussions during recruitment.

Qualifications

• Current certificate of competence from provincial approved bodies.
• Registered or eligible for registration with provincial bodies.
• Experience in community or long-term care.
• Ability to work independently and in a team; prioritize urgent tasks.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong problem-solving and big-picture thinking.

Responsibilities

• Ensure resident/patient care follows nursing standards, physicians’ orders, and policies.
• Assess and monitor residents; develop and evaluate care plans.
• Manage and evaluate nursing and personal care staff; orient new staff and supervise.
• Monitor performance; conduct appraisals; escalate to the Director of Care.
• Provide nursing leadership in the absence of the Director of Care.
