Job summary

School District No. 62 (Sooke) is seeking Noon Hour Supervision Assistants for on-call, temporary, and permanent positions on Vancouver Island. The role supports a safe, well-organized student environment during non-instructional time.

Ideal candidates have a secondary school diploma, up to three months of related experience with children, and hold an Occupational First Aid – Level 1 certificate or are willing to obtain it. A Criminal Record Check is required.

Qualifications

  • Secondary school graduation.
  • Three months of related experience with school-aged children or similar setting.
  • Holder of a valid Occupational First Aid – Level One Certificate.
  • Willing to authorize a Criminal Record Check.

Responsibilities

  • Assist administration in supervising students during non-instructional time.
  • Dispense first aid and tend to children in the sick room.
  • Manage lunch, snack, and clean-up routines.
  • Assist children with clothing as required.
  • Support bus loading and unloading as needed.

Education

Secondary school graduation
Willing to obtain Occupational First Aid – Level 1
Patience with children
Ability to follow policies and code of conduct
Good communication

As a Supervision Assistant, we are looking for candidates that have a passion for working with children and demonstrate patience and understanding to support a welcoming and safe environment for children. Candidates should also have the following education and experience:

  • Secondary school graduation
  • Up to three months of related experience working with school-aged children
  • Holds (or willing to get) a valid Occupational First Aid – Level 1 Certificate
  • Willing to authorize the completion of a required Criminal Record Check

  9. Appreciation of the confidential nature of all information relating to students, parents and teachers.
  10. Holder of a valid Occupational First Aid – Level One Certificate.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Principal

JOB GOAL: To assist in providing a well organized, supervised school environment in which students can take full advantage of their non-instructional time.

Performance Responsibilities:
  1. Assists administration in duties relating to supervision of students during non-instructional time.
  2. Dispenses first aid and tends to children in sick room.
  3. Responsible for lunch, snack and clean-up routines.
  4. May assist children with clothing and dressing as required.
  5. Performs related work as required such as bus loading and unloading.

The starting hourly rate for this on-call Noon Hour Supervision Assistantposition is $28.56per hour as per the collective agreement.
