The Ignatius Jesuit Centre is seeking Board members to actively promote its mission and vision. This voluntary role involves strategic leadership, community engagement, and participation in meetings and committees. Ideal candidates will have expertise in ecological stewardship, community development, or human resources, and a commitment to supporting the charity's goals.
Every year, over 5000 individuals and families connect with the land through IJC’s retreats, training programs, farm products, trails, and land-based initiatives. IJC’s mission is to cultivate spiritual growth and ecological engagement. The 640-acre property hosts three main programs: Loyola House, a retreat and training centre; Ignatius Farm, a community organic farm; and the Old-Growth Forest, a conservation and education area.
We seek Board members eager to actively promote IJC’s Mission and Vision. Expertise in the following areas will help strengthen our ability to fulfill our mission:
Previous board experience is not required. We value diverse voices, backgrounds, and perspectives.
This voluntary role involves attending one Board meeting (1.5–2 hours) per month and one Committee meeting per month (1.5–2 hours), excluding December, July, and August. Each member joins one Committee—Financial, Governance, Land, Human Resources, or Fundraising. Terms last three years and may be renewed for up to three terms. Preparation and reflection time are also required between meetings.
