Job summary

The Sudbury Catholic District School Board is seeking Non-Certified Supply Teachers for daily occasional work when OCT-certified Occasional Teachers are unavailable. Teachers may be called to work with K-12 students, with no guaranteed hours.

You will support classrooms under the Principal/VP, fostering a safe, caring learning environment and assisting students with activities aligned to the timetable. This opportunity lets you gain classroom teaching experience with access to teaching resources

Job description

The Sudbury Catholic District School Board is hiring Non-Certified Supply Teachers available for daily occasional work when no Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certified Occasional Teachers are available. Non-Certified Supply Teachers may be called to work with students from K-12. Call-outs are as needed to do replacement work, there is no guarantee of hours. Under the direction of the Principal/Vice Principal, you will support students within the classroom to create a safe, caring learning environment where all students can thrive. Following the established timetable, you will provide supervision and guidance as students complete work/activities provided by the classroom teacher or administrator.

Essential Qualifications/Requirements

• Successful completion of 2 years of post secondary education relevant to the position
• Proficient in oral and written English
• Experience working/volunteering with children and/or adolescents
• Experience working with students with differing needs and abilities
• Ability to ensure the safety and security of students
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and privacy of student information
• Ability to communicate and relate with people tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
• Ability to contribute effectively to a team
• Ability to express a positive attitude and enthusiasm with students
• Ability to exercise good judgement, patience, self-control, and perseverance when dealing with students
• Physical requirements include frequent walking and standing, bending and manual dexterity

Preferred Qualifications/Requirements

• Currently registered and completing a Bachelor of Education or Concurrent Education program leading to OCT Certification or awaiting certification by the Ontario College of Teachers
• A Catholic Baptismal certificate and/or a current Pastoral reference from a Catholic Priest
• Proficiency in oral and written French is an asset

Daily rate of pay: $178.62 - $285.75
