Join to apply for the NIGHT SHIFT: CNC Operator - Lathe role at Argus

Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, the CNC Operator is responsible for operating CNC machines in a safe and efficient manner, finishing products accurately to reduce non-compliance pieces, and working effectively with the Supervisor and team members to complete and ship orders on time.

What You’ll Do

• Interpret production orders, including part descriptions, materials, documents, and drawings.
• Read and interpret drawings and blueprints to operate CNC machines responsibly and efficiently. Update and sign off on production orders as needed.
• Understand the sequence of operations for each production order.
• Program CNC machines to meet customer specifications based on work order instructions.
• Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines, adjusting programs during production as needed. Use measuring tools and gauges.
• Manufacture routine and complex parts from raw materials.
• Safely move raw materials and finished products using overhead cranes and pallet jacks. Handle materials carefully and report concerns.
• Complete work orders on time, plan and prioritize workload, and collaborate with the Plant Supervisor to resolve issues.
• Maintain the CNC area and equipment daily, reporting issues to the Supervisor and Maintenance team.
• Document completed work and route products and documentation appropriately.
• Record time, switch codes, scan router operations, and enter product data.

What You Bring

• At least 2 years of CNC machining experience.
• High school diploma.
• NAIT practicum or CNC courses are assets.
• Knowledge of products/services related to oil and gas industry.
• Understanding of safe work practices, QA requirements, and Lean Manufacturing principles.

Work Environment

• Shop floor environment with extended standing.
• Wearing PPE 100% of the time.
• Lifting up to 50 lbs regularly without mechanical aid.
