Job description

Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, the CNC Operator is responsible for operating CNC machines safely and efficiently, ensuring product quality by reducing non-compliance pieces, and collaborating effectively with the Supervisor and team to meet production deadlines.

What You’ll Do

Role accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Interpreting production order information, including part descriptions, material grade, documents, and drawings.
  2. Reading and interpreting drawings and blueprints to operate CNC machines responsibly, diligently, and efficiently. Updating and signing off on production orders as required.
  3. Understanding the sequence of operations for each production order.
  4. Programming CNC machines to meet customer specifications based on work order instructions.
  5. Setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC machines, adjusting programs during production as needed, and using measuring tools, gauges, and controls.
  6. Manufacturing routine, complex, and non-routine parts from raw materials.
  7. Safely maneuvering raw materials and finished products using overhead cranes and pallet jacks, reporting any concerns to the Plant Supervisor.
  8. Completing work orders within deadlines, planning and prioritizing workload, and collaborating with the Plant Supervisor to resolve issues.
  9. Maintaining the CNC machine area and equipment daily, reporting concerns to the Plant Supervisor and Maintenance team.
  10. Documenting completed work and routing products and documentation appropriately.
  11. Recording time, switch codes, scanning router operations, entering product quantities, and managing parts consumption.
What You Bring
  • At least 2 years of machining experience.
  • High school diploma.
  • CNC Machinist/Operator ticket is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of part fixturing and work holding preferred.
  • General knowledge of products and services related to the oil and gas industry.
  • Understanding of safe work practices, Quality Assurance, and Continuous Improvement (Lean Manufacturing) principles.
Where You’ll Work
  • Shop floor environment with extended standing and working with products.
  • Wearing personal protective equipment throughout the work shift.
  • Lifting regularly up to 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance.
