Job summary

HI Vancouver Downtown is seeking a dedicated Night Cleaner to join our hostel team in Vancouver. You will work a 7.5-hour overnight shift around 22:00, helping maintain interior and exterior cleanliness and support a safe, welcoming environment for guests.

You will collaborate with a tight-knit team, bring positive energy, and take pride in the hostel’s cleanliness as a core guest experience element.

Qualifications

  • People who like to move and roll up their sleeves as you’ll spend 6-7 hours cleaning each day.
  • You’ll need to enjoy working as part of a team and bringing your positive energy and humour to work every day.
  • You’ll also have times where independence is required, which is a great time to jam to those Spotify tunes.
  • You’ll need to take pride in whatever you do. Our Housekeeping department has one of the most important tasks in our hostel, and we need teammates who understand that.

Responsibilities

  • Working a 7.5-hour overnight shifts starting generally around 22:00. Reporting to the Housekeeping Supervisor, the Night Cleaner ensures that the hostel is kept clean by performing housekeeping duties at night.
  • Responsible for ensuring the safe and secure environment our guests expect during the nighttime hours.
  • Ensure all common areas, washrooms, showers and hallways are cleaned to our standard. Follow the hostel cleaning schedule.
  • Communicate regularly with the Housekeeping Supervisor and the Night Auditor to ensure rooms are cleaned as needed.
  • Perform laundry duties such as collecting linens and towels, washing, folding, and putting them away.
