Chateau Lacombe Hotel in downtown Edmonton is seeking a dependable Night Auditor to join our Front Office team. This overnight role handles guest check-ins/check-outs, processes room charges, and performs the hotel's nightly audit and financial reconciliation with accuracy.

You will respond to guest inquiries, maintain guest accounts and Front Office records, and coordinate with other departments while monitoring safety and service standards during the night shift.

Qualifications

• Previous Front Desk, Night Audit, hotel, or customer service experience is preferred.

Job description

We’re looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Night Auditor to join our Front Office team at Chateau Lacombe Hotel. If you enjoy working independently, providing excellent guest service, and have a strong eye for accuracy and detail, this may be a great fit for you.

This is an overnight position and requires a flexible schedule that may include weekends and holidays.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

Reporting to the Front Office Supervisor, the Night Auditor is responsible for providing overnight Front Desk services while completing the hotel’s daily audit and financial reconciliation processes. This position assists guests throughout the night, processes arrivals and departures, responds to guest inquiries and concerns, and helps maintain a safe and professional Front Office environment.

The Night Auditor also verifies and reconciles daily transactions, prepares reports, completes the end-of-day process, and ensures accurate information is available for the following business day.

What You’ll Do (includes but is not limited to):

• Provide professional and welcoming Front Desk service to guests throughout the overnight shift
• Complete guest check-ins and check-outs and process room charges and payments
• Respond to guest inquiries, requests, concerns, and complaints in a timely and professional manner
• Answer telephone calls and provide information regarding hotel services, amenities, and local attractions
• Review and verify daily transactions, postings, payments, and account balances for accuracy
• Reconcile Front Office transactions and identify or investigate discrepancies
• Complete the hotel’s end-of-day and night audit processes
• Prepare, review, and distribute daily operational and financial reports as required
• Maintain accurate guest accounts, reservations, and Front Office records
• Process cash, debit, credit card, and other transactions in accordance with established procedures
• Communicate relevant information and outstanding issues to the incoming Front Office team and management
• Coordinate with other hotel departments to respond to guest needs and operational concerns
• Monitor Front Office and lobby activity during the overnight shift and report safety, security, maintenance, or guest concerns as required
• Follow established procedures for emergencies, guest incidents, privacy, confidentiality, and the protection of hotel and guest information
• Complete additional Front Office and administrative duties as assigned

What You Bring:

• Previous Front Desk, Night Audit, hotel, or customer service experience is preferred
• Previous cash handling, reconciliation, accounting, or financial transaction experience is an asset
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions during overnight hours
• Ability to provide professional and courteous service in a variety of guest situations
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests, Associates, and supervisors
• Strong computer skills and the ability to learn hotel and payment-processing systems
• Ability to handle confidential guest and business information appropriately
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain calm in a busy or unexpected situation

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This position requires extended periods of standing, walking, and working at a computer or Front Desk workstation. The Night Auditor may be required to bend, reach, lift, carry, push, or pull items associated with normal Front Office operations.

Work is primarily performed in the Front Office and lobby areas during overnight hours. The position involves regular interaction with hotel guests and may involve responding to difficult or belligerent individuals, emergencies, security concerns, and other unexpected situations.
