Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Night Attendant is responsible for responding to incoming calls, greeting and directing all visitors, answering inquiries in a positive and professional manner, cleaning and sanitization of common areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. To run the front desk in a courteous efficient manner;
  2. To answer all incoming calls, and respond to caller’s inquiries in a positive, professional manner;
  3. To redirect calls as appropriate and take clear, concise messages when required;
  4. To greet, assist and direct all visitors;
  5. To handle various administrative and introductory accounting duties;
  6. To pick up and sort internal mail;
  7. To stamp, deliver and maintain mail machine for external mail;
  8. To prepare packages and arrange courier pick up;
  9. To arrange meeting room schedule and bookings;
  10. To update phone and distribution lists;
  11. To replace staff as necessary;
  12. To answer and respond immediately to emergency response system;
  13. To report promptly to management of maintenance & repairs that are necessary throughout the facility by entering in Maintenance Care system;
  14. To always be accessible to your team and management and promptly attend any problems/concerns that may arise;
  15. To maintain a clean, safe, fully stocked and well organized reception area;
  16. To establish and maintain harmonious relationships with residents, their families and employees;
  17. To report to management if the residents have concerns or complaints;
  18. To assist with small projects as required by other administrative support (i.e. labels, bulk mailing, etc.);
  19. To provide evening security and emergency response for residents when required;
  20. To clean areas according to assigned schedules using appropriate cleaning and sanitation methods and procedures;
  21. To clean common areas, including furniture, kitchen and washroom fixtures, walls, ceilings, lights, vents and windows;
  22. To do laundry (including washing, treating & folding);
  23. To operate floor care machines and steam cleaning equipment;
  24. To strip, scrub, spray, and buff all carpet and non-carpet floor surfaces;
  25. To pick up garbage & recycling and transport to designated areas;
  26. To adhere to established residence policies and procedures, including safety rules and safe working practices;
  27. To prepare documentation as required according to residence policy;
  28. To be aware of the Residents Rights & Responsibilities and endeavor to respect and promote it;
  29. To attend in-service training as required in order to better serve the needs of the residents;
  30. To complete The Learning Centre as monthly online training;
  31. To attend staff meetings as required to be aware of changes in Residence that have taken place;
  32. To participate in the Quality Improvement Program;
  33. To complete other duties as assigned;
  34. To uphold and promote organization’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity.

Required Education, Credentials and Experience:

  1. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written English communication skills, demonstrating empathy and patience;
  2. Ability to provide feedback on a day-to-day basis;
  3. Knowledge and experience with standard institutional cleaning techniques;
  4. Previous experience in commercial/residential/Healthcare cleaning and laundry procedures is desirable;
  5. Previous experience in reception is considered an asset;
  6. Must exhibit professional and polished telephone manner;
  7. Ability to handle multiple tasks at once, work under pressure, and meet deadlines;
  8. Highly organized and detail focused;
  9. Expertise in Microsoft Word (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail) preferred;
  10. Ability to work with minimal supervision;
  11. Current CPR and First aid;
  12. Current Smart Choices Responsible Service Certification (Serving it Safe);
  13. Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (VPS);
