Job description

Job Description: Network Systems Analyst

Do you have 5 years of experience in a Microsoft enterprise environment and exceptional problem-solving skills? If so, we want you on our Information Services Team!

As the successful candidate for the Network Systems Analyst position, you will contribute to the Regional District of Central Okanagan's IT networks, systems, and security across a wide range of technologies. You will collaborate with the Manager of Information Services on systems architecture, including disaster recovery, business continuity, and security protection systems.

You Will
  • Plan, design, document, implement, monitor, and maintain all approved IT infrastructure, including but not limited to:
  • Server operating systems and services both on-premise and in the cloud to ensure optimal performance, high availability, and security.
  • Security management and monitoring, including network, Microsoft 365, server, endpoint, file systems, remote access (VPN), and user authentication systems.
  • Virtualization infrastructure, including highly available clusters of virtual networks, virtual machines, and virtual data storage.
  • Backup and recovery systems, including disaster recovery, testing, and risk mitigation.
  • Utilize storage systems to optimize snapshots, storage space, and network traffic in a highly available environment.
  • Cloud services and technologies, including Office365 and Azure platform technologies integrated with distributed Active Directory architecture.
  • Proactively identify risks and issues, troubleshoot complex infrastructure problems, and perform assessments, diagnostics, and issue resolution.
  • Evaluate and research solutions based on business needs, user requirements, technological options, cost, feasibility, and security/privacy impacts.
  • Assist with the development of RFP/RFQ technical specifications and scoring of vendor submissions.
  • Participate in developing and supporting IT policies and administrative directives.
  • Provide after-hours on-call support for critical business systems and emergency operations, including water and wastewater communication systems.
  • Manage meeting room AV technology to support remote meetings and live streaming of public Regional Board meetings.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and training to junior and relief IT team members and contractors.
  • Assist in achieving organizational benchmarks, implementing technologies, and strengthening security measures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

To be successful, you need a four-year degree in information technology or a related field, along with five years' experience in a Windows enterprise environment. Experience with SCADA systems is preferred. You should have strong organizational and problem-solving skills, tact and discretion with sensitive information, and excellent communication skills. You must be able to meet and maintain an RCMP Security Clearance and hold a valid Class 5 BC Driver's license.

This is a CUPE 338 position working Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, with an on-call rotation. The pay rate is $51.74 per hour, with some weekend flexibility required to meet operational needs.
