Network Engineer Role

The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network systems to ensure efficient and secure communication within the organization. This role involves working with various networking technologies, including wired, wireless, and cloud-based solutions.

Reporting to the Manager, IT Network, the successful candidate will work as part of the IT Network team and collaborate closely with other cross-functional teams within the organization.

Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
  • Collaborate with network, cloud systems, cybersecurity, & enterprise architecture teams to create optimal network design and configurations and ensure seamless network functionality.
  • Work with network hardware/software vendors and ISPs to ensure 99.9% uptime of the network infrastructure, including maintaining and renewing contracts.
  • Design, maintain, and recommend improvements to cloud platform firewalls and network design for better management and operations.
  • Create detailed network plans considering current size and future growth, ensuring scalability and security.
  • Research and recommend suitable network hardware/software for QuadReal’s needs.
  • Participate in planning and implementing security configurations on firewalls and perimeter hardware.
  • Research and implement network performance optimization strategies, including automation and third-party partnerships.
  • Maintain and update documentation for network topologies, SOPs, and policies, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with property management and other teams to understand business needs and tailor network solutions accordingly.
  • Participate in planning, designing, and maintaining the OT network infrastructure.
Operational Management
  • Monitor network incidents to maintain 99.9% uptime, using network monitoring tools.
  • Manage and investigate network incidents via ticket systems.
  • Configure, install, and maintain network hardware and security systems in both IT and OT spaces.
  • Provide Level 3 support and escalation assistance, troubleshooting network issues promptly.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain cloud-based firewalls (Azure, AWS, etc.).
  • Monitor, test, and report on network performance.
  • Perform on-site analysis and resolution of complex network problems, including travel if needed.
  • Plan and implement upgrades, security patches, and network improvements.
  • Maintain an inventory of network hardware and software.
  • Support and train service desk staff on network issues.
  • Participate in firewall policy reviews and security gap analysis.
  • Adhere to security policies and change management procedures.
  • Provide on-call support on a rotation basis.
Experience and Qualifications
  • College Diploma or University degree in computer science or internetworking, with 3+ years of relevant experience managing enterprise networks.
  • Experience designing enterprise network solutions for cloud environments.
  • Experience with IT and OT network infrastructure planning and design.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure and AWS networking.
  • Knowledge of dynamic routing, switching, VPNs, TCP/IP, and wireless solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with firewalls, troubleshooting, and multi-vendor environments.
  • Valid driver’s license and transportation.
  • Flexibility for on-call work and travel as needed.
