University of British Columbia is seeking a Network Analyst I to support UBCNET and related data network services. The role involves planning, design, and troubleshooting of LAN/WAN, data center networks, and security.

You will work with cross-functional teams, diagnose issues, and participate in after-hours on-call rotations to ensure network reliability across campus and remote locations. The position emphasizes capacity analysis, incident response, and collaboration with vendors.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
• Minimum of three years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• CCNA or other similar advanced technical certification is preferred.
• Experience supporting enterprise LAN/WAN and network security is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure operational stability of the campus network including routing, switching, security, and support systems.
• Fulfill service requests and resolve incidents related to network components.
• Monitor network performance and coordinate problem resolution with vendors.
• Provide network security operations support including configuring firewalls and VPNs.
• Create and maintain automation scripts for network operations.
• Support after-hours on-call and maintenance windows.
• Consult with users to determine required technical support for network systems.
