Job summary

BDO Canada is seeking a Manager, National Assurance to provide high-impact technical accounting support to assurance engagement teams serving public and private companies. You will be a trusted adviser on IFRS Accounting Standards and US GAAP, translating technical requirements into practical guidance that supports sound professional judgment and high-quality engagement execution.

This role may be based in Vancouver, Calgary, or the Greater Toronto Area. This is a new position.

Qualifications

• You hold a Canadian CPA designation or an equivalent international designation.
• You have public accounting experience in audit and assurance or technical accounting.
• You have advanced technical proficiency in IFRS Accounting Standards/US GAAP.
• You bring broad experience across industries.
• You have demonstrated experience researching, documenting, and presenting technical accounting positions.
• You communicate confidently with senior professionals, facilitating discussions and challenging conclusions.
• You have strong time-management and organizational skills for multiple consultations.
• You demonstrate teamwork and leadership contributing to an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical, high-impact technical accounting support to assurance engagement teams.
• Act as trusted adviser on IFRS and US GAAP matters for public and private companies.
• Research standards, evaluate alternatives, and develop clear analyses with industry context.
• Collaborate with practice leaders, industry specialists and firm stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain guidance, templates, tools, and communications for high-quality engagements.
• Design and present technical learning, case studies and knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Monitor regulatory developments and translate changes into action.
• Coach partners and assurance teams and manage a high volume of consultations.
