  • Experience researching, documenting, and presenting technical accounting positions to partners and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong time-management, organizational, and leadership skills; ability to coach teams.

Responsibilities

Your Opportunity

Our Department of Professional Practice is looking for a Manager, National Assurance to join our team and provide practical, high-impact technical accounting support to assurance engagement teams serving public and private companies. You will be a trusted adviser on complex matters involving IFRS Accounting Standards and US GAAP, translating technical requirements into clear, practical guidance that supports sound professional judgment and high-quality engagement execution. This role provides an opportunity to influence professional practice, support the firm's most complex accounting matters, and contribute to the development of assurance professionals across Canada. This role may be based in Vancouver, Calgary, or the Greater Toronto Area.

  • Support engagement teams on complex IFRS Accounting Standards and US GAAP matters.
  • Exercise professional skepticism to challenge engagement teams through technical consultations, including their evaluation of alternatives and application of professional judgment to facts and circumstances.
  • Research relevant standards and supporting guidance, evaluate alternatives, and ensure clear, concise, and well-supported technical analyses, all while considering and capturing industry-specific factors.
  • Collaborate with professional practice leaders, industry specialists, and firm stakeholders on IFRS Accounting Standards, US GAAP and quality and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain practical guidance, templates, tools, and communications that support consistent and high-quality assurance engagement execution.
  • Design and present technical learning, case studies and knowledge-sharing sessions for assurance professionals, and external clients as needed.
  • Monitor emerging accounting, assurance and regulatory developments, assess their implications, including industry factors, and help translate changes into action.
  • Build relationships with and coach partners and assurance teams and effectively manage a high volume of technical consultations.

Your experience and education
  • You hold a Canadian CPA designation or an equivalent international designation.
  • You have public accounting experience in audit and assurance or technical accounting, including experience serving public companies, private companies, or both, and are operating at a manager or senior manager level, or have equivalent experience.
  • You have advanced technical proficiency in IFRS Accounting Standards/US GAAP, including the ability to research, analyze and communicate complex accounting matters.
  • You bring broad experience across various industries.
  • You have demonstrated experience researching, documenting, and presenting technical accounting positions to partners, engagement teams, and other senior stakeholders.
  • You communicate confidently with senior professionals, facilitating discussions and constructively challenging conclusions.
  • You have strong time-management and organizational skills and can manage multiple complex technical consultations and competing priorities.
  • You demonstrate strong teamwork and leadership skills and contribute to a culture of coaching, inclusion and kindness.

Salary Range: $76,000 - $126,000 per annum
