Overview

The National Account Manager is the primary point of contact for the assigned key customers and is responsible for maintaining and growing the business relationship by providing a high level of professionalism and exceptional levels of service to ensure client satisfaction. The NAM will be responsible for developing and guiding the implementation of the account specific business plan; achieving account profitability and sales targets; providing account leadership. This individual will also be responsible for identifying and converting on opportunities to further grow our portfolio of brands and products within the assigned account(s).

Essential Functions
  • Develop account strategies in accordance with overall business strategy.
  • Develop account goals and a business plan with the customer.
  • Effectively work with product, marketing and other internal teams to optimize our brands within the assigned accounts.
  • Continually communicate any issues to internal management with the objective of maintaining a healthy business relationship with the account(s).
  • Conduct regular reviews of business performance, promotion strategies, planograms.
  • Partner with the marketing department in promotional development.
  • Forecast, budget and track account revenues and costs.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the account\'s financial support program, business building program and support logistics on supply chain program.
  • Ability to travel within Toronto / GTA on a weekly basis to various customer office locations and potentially Canada on an occasional basis.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor\'s degree in marketing or business-related field; MBA preferred.
  • 5-8 years of sales and / or marketing experience.
  • Experience managing national retail customers. Ideally Canadian Tire.
  • Demonstrated skills in achieving sales, profitability, and budget goals.
  • Ability to effectively implement sales and marketing strategies.
  • Ability to effectively monitor category performance versus plan and communicate accordingly.
  • Ability to understand trade spending effectiveness (efficiency of promotional activity is preferred).
  • Demonstrated commitment to building strong business relationships with customer.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with senior leaders internally and with customer.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including VLOOKUP, Pivot tables and data tables and ability to prepare PowerPoint presentations.
  • SAP / JDA knowledge preferred.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
