Job summary

Mercor is hiring experienced Musicians to evaluate generative musical AI models in partnership with a leading AI lab. You will assess model outputs across music categories and annotate songs in detail using a structured taxonomy.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years as a music producer or audio engineer, a college degree in music, and proficiency in Russian and English. Start date is immediate, part-time 10+ hours per week, for up to 6 months in Toronto, Ontario.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience as music producer, audio engineer, or sound mixer
• Understanding of music theory, performance, and lyrics
• College degree in music covering performance, theory, and lyrics
• Past experience writing lyrical music in the domain language
• Native or near-native proficiency in Russian and English

• Evaluate AI model outputs across music categories
• Score quality of training data
• Annotate songs with genre/sub-genre classification, song structure, vocal/instrumental characteristics
• Rate AI-generated music samples using audio-engineering terminology

You will assess model outputs across in different categories of music in your bilingual language.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI model output lyrics, voice generation, and other standards
• Score quality of musical training data
• Experience writing music in the domain language listed in the title
• Able to understand directions in English language
• Rate AI-generated music samples head-to-head on musicality, creativity, prompt adherence, vocal quality, and production/mix quality, using audio-engineering terminology
• Annotate songs in detail: genre/sub-genre classification, song structure, vocal/instrumental characteristics via a structured taxonomy

Ideal Qualifications

• Experience working as a music producer, audio engineer, and/or sound mixer for at least 3+ years
• Evidence of understanding musical performance, theory, and lyrics
• College degree in music, involving both performance, theory, and lyrics
• Past experience writing lyrical music in the domain language listed in the title
• Native or near-native proficiency in both Russian and English
