Job summary

Mercor is seeking experienced musicians in Toronto to evaluate generative musical AI models and assess outputs across various music categories in a bilingual setting. In this part-time role, you will work on evaluating lyrics, voice generation, and music data quality, with detailed annotations and human judgments.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years as music producers or audio engineers, college music degrees, and native or near-native Portuguese and English skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience as music producer, audio engineer, or sound mixer.
• Strong understanding of musical performance, theory, and lyrics.
• Evidence of writing lyrical music in the domain language in the title.
• Native or near-native proficiency in both Portuguese and English.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI model output lyrics, voice generation, and other standards.
• Score quality of musical training data.
• Rate AI-generated music samples head-to-head on musicality, creativity, prompt adherence, vocal quality, and production/mix quality.
• Annotate songs in detail: genre/sub-genre classification, song structure, vocal/instrumental characteristics via a structured taxonomy.

Mercor is hiring experienced Musicians to evaluate generative musical AI models in partnership with a leading AI lab.

You will assess model outputs across in different categories of music in your bilingual language.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI model output lyrics, voice generation, and other standards


• Score quality of musical training data


• Experience writing music in the domain language listed in the title


• Able to understand directions in English language


• Rate AI-generated music samples head-to-head on musicality, creativity, prompt adherence, vocal quality, and production/mix quality, using audio-engineering terminology


• Annotate songs in detail: genre/sub-genre classification, song structure, vocal/instrumental characteristics via a structured taxonomy

Ideal Qualifications

• Experience working as a music producer, audio engineer, and/or sound mixer for at least 3+ years


• Evidence of understanding musical performance, theory, and lyrics


• College degree in music, involving both performance, theory, and lyrics


• Past experience writing lyrical music in the domain language listed in the title


• Native or near-native proficiency in both Portuguese and English

Project Timeline
