Job summary

Western Development Museum is seeking a Custodian in Saskatoon. The role supports daily care of facilities, galleries and grounds, ensuring high cleanliness standards and safety for artifacts and visitors.

You will follow schedules, coordinate with supervisors, and contribute to a welcoming museum environment. Qualifications include Grade 12 or equivalent, custodial experience, and strong written and oral communication.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent and relevant cleaning/janitorial experience.
  • Museum or gallery experience is desirable.
  • Valid driver’s license and optional certifications (forklift, aerial work platform) are assets.
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently or in a team; customer/public interaction experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine custodial and cleaning services in all areas including galleries, exhibits, rentals, restrooms, storage rooms and grounds.
  • Ensure safety and integrity of the collection during handling and cleaning of artifacts.
  • Document and report day-to-day cleaning, maintenance, and safety issues.
  • Attend to urgent cleaning situations and monitor supplies; request replacements as needed.
  • Plan and prioritize work with supervisors and custodial team; complete assigned tasks.
