Job summary

Town of Tillsonburg is seeking an Operations Technologist to guide day-to-day activities on capital construction projects, prepare contracts, and perform design, drafting, field and technical duties within Engineering Services. The role reports to the Manager of Engineering and ensures compliance with municipal standards.

Qualifications

• 3 year Civil Engineering Technology with CET or equivalent.
• 1-3 years civil/municipal design and construction experience including water, storm and road design.
• Valid Ontario G class driver's license.
• Proficiency with GPS, total station, theodolites and field levels.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of MOE/MEA/TAC/OPSS design guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Offer technical opinions and expertise to Town departments.
• Assist with tender openings and ensure compliance for tenders.
• Assist in complaint management and related engineering duties.
• Design, administer, and inspect capital municipal projects and meet schedules.
• Coordinate with utility companies for relocation of facilities.
• Prepare technical documents and contract specifications; issue addenda.
• Measure quantities and collect field data during construction.
• Submit approvals for Watermain, Sanitary, and Storm projects; oversee timing.
• Review drawings and provide comments for site plans and zoning amendments.
• Complete monthly payment certificates and negotiate final quantities.
• Provide cost estimates for municipal works and train seasonal staff.
• Inspect construction to ensure compliance with drawings and OHSA.

Education

Civil Engineering Technology diploma with CET/OACETT membership
