Job summary

Norfolk County is seeking a By-Law Enforcement Officer to join the Building and By-Law Services team in Simcoe, ON. The role involves investigating complaints, enforcing municipal by-laws and provincial legislation, and supporting safe, well-managed neighbourhoods.

The successful candidate will have a post-secondary enforcement credential, at least two years of investigative experience, and strong documentation and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Police Foundations or Law & Security or equivalent enforcement training.
• Minimum two years of related investigative experience in enforcement of law, bylaws, or provincial statutes.

Responsibilities

• Enforce Municipal By-Laws and Ontario acts; handle complaints and service of orders.
• Perform on-site inspections of by-law violations; document findings with photos and notes.
• Prepare court documentation, affidavits, subpoenas, and briefs for proceedings.
• Attend Provincial Offences or court hearings and provide testimony when required.
• Maintain records; utilize Cityview and Microsoft Office for case management.
