The Town of Edson is seeking a Municipal Accountant to support accurate and transparent financial information across the organization. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role covers a broad range of accounting functions and partners with departments to ensure financial practices align with priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in commerce/finance with accounting major.
• 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience.
• CPA designation or candidate will be considered.
• Satisfactory criminal record check.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Municipal/public sector experience valued.

Responsibilities

• Generate non-routine journal entries and complete complex reconciliations.
• Improve accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
• Support Finance Manager and finance staff across departments.
• Assist with insurance processes and asset administration.
• Provide high-quality financial information and analyses for decision making.
• Collaborate with management to align financial plans with organizational goals.
• Mentor colleagues in Finance and across the Town.
• Assist in budgeting and procurement compliance.
• Support Emergency Operations Centre during disasters.
