Job summary

The Town of Slave Lake is seeking a proactive MultiRec Centre Parks Operator to support high-quality recreation facilities and park spaces. The role may require day, afternoon, evening, or weekend shifts across the centre and surrounding grounds.

Responsibilities include operating ice surface and cleaning equipment, maintaining facilities to standards, and performing related maintenance tasks. A valid Alberta license and First Aid/CPR are required; experience in a recreation facility is a plus.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 education or equivalent.
• First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain before start).
• Willingness to be trained to operate ice surfacing equipment and small equipment.
• Valid Alberta Class Five driver’s license.
• Criminal Record Check satisfactory.
• Arena or recreation facility experience considered an asset.

• Keep tools/equipment in owner/operator manuals.
• Perform related duties as required.

Job Description

The Town of Slave Lake is looking for an energetic and responsible individual to join our team as aMultiRec Centre Parks Operatorto provide and maintain a high-quality recreation and leisure facilities and parks. This role may require working days, afternoons, evenings and/or weekends.

EMPLOYEES THAT REPORT DIRECTLY TO THIS POSITION:

SALARY:

$26.89 - $33.91 per hour/ 37.5 hours per week

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide excellent customer service by using good public relation skills.
• Foster good relations with other staff, management, and public.
• Operate ice surface equipment and cleaning equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Maintain MRC and all parks/green space to industry and/or legislated standards.
• Operate all the appropriate MRC/Parks equipment and perform related duties in accordance with the manufacturer’s operator manuals, Occupational Health and Safety regulations and Town safety policies.
• Perform janitorial duties as required.
• Performs maintenance duties as delegated.
• Maintain all tools and equipment in accordance with the owner/operator manuals.
• Perform related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum Grade 12 education.
• Current First Aid/CPR, or ability to attain it prior to employment commencing.
• Ability/willingness to be trained to operate ice surfacing equipment and small equipment safely and efficiently.
• Valid Class Five (5) Alberta Drivers License or equivalent.
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
• Experience working in a recreation facility or arena is considered an asset.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
• Must be willing and able to work in inclement weather.
• Must be physically fit.
• Good verbal communications and public relations skills
• Ability to work independently.
