Job summary

The Town of Slave Lake is seeking a MultiRec Centre Parks Operator to provide and maintain high-quality recreation facilities and parks. The role may require working days, afternoons, evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities include operating ice surface and cleaning equipment, maintaining parks to standards, and performing related duties in a safe manner. Prior First Aid/CPR and Alberta driver’s license are required, with training available for equipment operation.

Qualifications

• Current First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain before start date.
• Willingness to be trained to operate ice surfacing and small equipment safely.
• Valid Class Five Alberta Drivers License or equivalent.
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and maintain public relations with staff and the public.
• Foster positive relations with staff, management, and visitors.
• Operate ice surface equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain MRC and parks/green spaces to industry and legislated standards.
• Operate MRC/Parks equipment per manuals and safety policies.
• Perform janitorial duties as required.
• Maintain tools and equipment per owner manuals.
• Perform related duties as required.

The Town of Slave Lake is looking for an energetic and responsible individual to join our team as a MultiRec Centre Parks Operator to provide and maintain a high-quality recreation and leisure facilities and parks. This role may require working days, afternoons, evenings and/or weekends.

EMPLOYEES THAT REPORT DIRECTLY TO THIS POSITION:

None

SALARY:

$26.89 - $33.91 per hour/ 37.5 hours per week

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide excellent customer service by using good public relation skills.

Foster good relations with other staff, management, and public.

Operate ice surface equipment and cleaning equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Maintain MRC and all parks/green space to industry and/or legislated standards.

Operate all the appropriate MRC/Parks equipment and perform related duties in accordance with the manufacturer's operator manuals, Occupational Health and Safety regulations and Town safety policies.

Perform janitorial duties as required.

Maintain all tools and equipment in accordance with the owner/operator manuals.

Perform related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

• Current First Aid/CPR, or ability to attain it prior to employment commencing.
• Ability/willingness to be trained to operate ice surfacing equipment and small equipment safely and efficiently.
• Valid Class Five (5) Alberta Drivers License or equivalent.
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check

Experience working in a recreation facility or arena is considered an asset.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.

Must be willing and able to work in inclement weather.

Must be physically fit.

Good verbal communications and public relations skills

• Ability to work independently.

May work alone.

Work in high noise levels

May be assigned an irregular work schedule, including weekends, early mornings, and evenings.
