Job summary

LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services is seeking a part-time Laboratory Assistant in Vancouver. The role focuses on specimen collection from greeting patients to preparation for transport, supporting patient care and the lab team across multiple PSCs in the Central Vancouver area.

The position requires completion of a Medical Laboratory Assistant program; ECG training is an asset, with flexible shifts and travel to several locations. Competitive benefits and a total rewards program are offered.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent related experience.
• ECG training or experience is an asset.
• Proficient data entry skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and request required information from patients, explain the specimen collection process, and ensure patients follow test protocol.
• Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect Holter monitors, 24-hour BP monitoring, and ECG tracings.
• Perform special test collections and complete related documentation.
• Maintain client relationships and respond to inquiries.
• Complete data entry of patient demographics and requisition information.
• Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.
